It is blended with spelt here but it tastes like the heavy but chewy breads we used to get at the German bakery when I was a kid. Like bread should taste. I am a fan of heft. The only “white” bread I like is an eggy panettone or brioche. Or my mom’s hoska but those are all desserts to me.
I’ve had Bauernbrot. I like Challah but can’t get it here and haven’t asked my mister to make it. I’m a bread snob and the closest real bakery is a couple of hours away so we have to make them at home, which is worth it.
Looking good!
Never heard of Emmer before. But it does look tasty!

It is an ancient form of wheat that is just starting to be cultivated again. The bread was still warm. Nothing better:)

I looked it up on Google. Looks like it makes quite a heavy flour… But light in gluten.
I rather like heavy breads. How does it taste?

I like the polish (Jewish) Chollah. Although I don’t make mine as sweet.
I’ve had Bauernbrot… I think that might be the bread you had from the German Bakery. Its VERY nice toasted!

I found Challah to be easy enough to make. I found it much easier than Focaccia… For some reason I have real issues with that. >.>
